Composed of a rapier and dagger with scabbards

Dated: probably 1610

Culture: German, Dresden

Medium and Technique: flattened, cast, cut, engraved and gilded, blade, gold-plated brass wire wrapped handle

Measurements: overall length 40.5cm blade 27.5cm; Weight 400g

The pommel features two heads leaning against each other, two angel heads facing sideways. The quillons end in the shape of a Roman warrior and a female figure.

once again, it’s not that he’s carrying her, it’s not that he’s saved her from the daleks; i don’t expect him just to leave her, that would be dumb.

but it’s the fact that this has been made the iconic image of the first half of series seven.

i saw a whole ~trailer on bbca that was nothing but this image of hero!doctor and damsel!amy.

and coming on top of of series six, where amy is kidnapped (twice!!) turned into a creepy flesh person, forced to give birth against her will, without any knowledge until she’s in labor, has her newborn stolen, is abandoned in a different time steam for thirty six years, all alone, has that version of herself abandoned again in favor of a younger version of herself, and then is essentially dropped off home against her will, to live a ~normal life with her husband though she seems visibly upset and scared by the prospect. and then she doesn’t see her best friend again for another two years, despite the fact that she leaves her childhood suitcase by bed, waiting for him.

and the promo image of the doctor carrying an unconscious damsel amy is just an illustration of how amy has been stripped of all agency, and offers a really clear picture of how moffat views amy and women in general.

and i’m really tired of everyone writing legitimate concerns as “omg the doctor can’t do anything for amy ever sexism!!!!1!!”

the first is oh my g o d moffat you really just went there and said that clara can’t fly the tardis bc she’s a woman and when she called the doctor out on it he denied it and did that dumb laugh/smirk behind her back that means OF COURSE IT’S BC SHE’S A WOMAN LOL WOMEN THAT’S IT THAT’S THE PUNCHLINE
